St. Mary’s / Duluth Clinic Health Systems Selects Caduceus Systems’ Material Management Information System
AUSTIN, Texas – February 27, 2004 – Caduceus Systems, a leading provider of wireless, real-time materials management and contract compliance systems, today announced that St. Mary’s / Duluth Clinic Health System (SMDC) has licensed the Caduceus Material Management Information System (Caduceus MMIS) for implementation throughout its network of four hospitals and 26 clinics in northern Minnesota, Wisconsin and Michigan. SMDC has also contracted for consulting and implementation services associated with the deployment of the system. Implementation will begin immediately, and is scheduled for completion later this year.
"SMDC’s management team is proud of its progressive approach to the adoption of new technologies that help them improve efficiency and reduce costs," said Wendy Purdiak, Director of Material Management at SMDC. "We conducted a thorough search and reviewed several alternative offerings before selecting the Caduceus MMIS. In the end, the functional and technical capabilities of their system proved to be a superior solution for our requirements."
The Caduceus MMIS solution automates the processes and workflows associated with the requisitioning, procurement, receipt, movement and charge capture of all medical and surgical supplies. A comprehensive solution, the Caduceus MMIS uses wireless automatic data collection for system-directed workflow. In addition to producing cost savings, the Caduceus MMIS eliminates redundant processes and enhances safety by reducing errors and allowing clinicians and caregivers to focus more on patient care.
The Windows®-based, open architecture of the Caduceus MMIS facilitates easy integration with healthcare facilities’ financial and clinical systems, thereby reducing the time needed for implementation and preserving previous investments in existing systems.
"The Caduceus MMIS will equip SMDC with the capabilities to realize significant internal savings in addition to facilitating web-based communication with their suppliers and trading partners," said Ed Lane, president and CEO of Caduceus Systems. "We’re pleased to have the opportunity to work with such an innovative leader and a pioneer in medical education, patient care and technology."
